In Summer months extreme Sun, active schedules and the extra indulgence of sugar and alcohol can create excess heat and congestion in the liver. Here are two easy recipes to quench your thirst, cool and gently cleanse the Liver. The liver is considered the seat of emotions and when it gets overheated it can make one cranky and easily irritated. Aloe Vera has been used for centuries as an aide to liver health while, the coconut water adds essential electrolytes to balance your system and the limes are rich in minerals. Overall you have 3 main ingredients that can support you body-mind balance and well-being.

Aloe Vera Cooler 1
Ingredients:
1 c. coconut water (not pasteurized is ideal)
*2 T. Lakewood Aloe Vera
1 T. Lime Juice (half a lime)
Optional: add more lime juice and a pinch of cinnamon

Directions:
Measure all ingredients into a glass and add an ice cube if desired. And drink to your health and happiness.
Note: This makes for an excellent morning tonic

Aloe Vera Cooler 2
Ingredients:
1 c. coconut water (not pasteurized is ideal)
*2 T. Lakewood Aloe Vera
1 T. Lime juice (half a lime)
1-2 inch chunk of cucumber with peel
2 sprigs of fresh mint (4-5 medium leaves)
1/2 c. of ice to blend or as desired
Directions:
Place all ingredients in the blender and whirl on high for a couple minutes or until everything is liquified. Pour into your favorite glass and drink to your health and happiness.
*Note: Lakewood Organic Aloe Vera pure inner leaf with lemon is my favorite as it does not contain any preservatives. Every individual system responds differently to the use of Aloe so, if you are new to using this beneficial plant begin with 1 Tablespoon and if you are accustomed to Aloe Vera you may find you want to increase the amount. Also, if you have fresh Aloe from the garden you can use a small piece of the fillet instead of the bottled juice.
