For those who don’t know, frosling = frosting or filling for cakes and.a happy healthy treat that makes you feel Yum! Every time I offer this creative concoction it tickles the happy place on everyone’s tongue. The novelty of familiar ingredients coming together as something totally new seems to awaken the pleasure centers for fun-food discovery. This recipe was inspired by an uptown creamery in Birmingham, Alabama making popsicles with organic cream and honey and unique flavors like curry. The smooth sweet cream embellished with a subtle touch of raw honey melding the dimensional spices of Indian curry got my attention .The following day I had to experience it again only in a slightly healthier version and using the ingredients that I had on hand. .May this Temple Taste version bring forth creative interpretations with extraordinary sensory values that reflect your variation of kitchen alchemy. And while you enjoy the many uses for Frosling, please send along any new ideas to post on our blog. And if you like the resources offered on this website share it with your friends. Together we will create a temple of tastes.
2 c. banana sliced and smashed (2 ripe bananas)
2 T. unsalted butter
2 T. coconut oil
1 T. raw honey
1 ¼ t. Temple Taste Simply Sweet Curry
1 t. vanilla extract
pinch of real salt
Optional: add a pinch of ground cinnamon and an additional banana if you would like a lighter version.
Variation: Substitute Curry with Ground Cinnamon, Pumpkin Spice or another Spice Blend.
Melt 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter in a frying pan on low heat. Peel 2 ripe bananas and break off chunks into the buttered pan. As the bananas soften smash with backside of fork. Allow mixture to cook down for 10-15 minutes possibly turning heat up a bit to bring forth a golden brown color and steam off the moisture in the bananas.
Once the mixture thickens add 2 Tablespoons virgin coconut oil, 1 Tablespoon raw honey and 1 ¼ teaspoons of Temple Taste Simply Sweet Curry, Cinnamon or Spice Blend. Continue stirring while mixture cooks for another 5 minutes. Once the flavors have melded add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and a pinch of real salt.
You can spoon the warm mixture onto cake to eat immediately. Or allow it to cool before using it as filling between layers or as a topping for your cakes. It can also be successfully folded into cake batters to add a delicious flavor.
Frosling also makes a wonderful pudding like treat eaten alone or can be used as garnish for pancakes and waffles, ice cream or plain yogurt or hot cereal. This mixture can be made in advance and stored in an airtight container. Best warmed in a pan before serving.
